Tulane's Students Against Food Insecurity (SAFI) club is an organization that actively engages students in work to address food insecurity both on and off campus. Their primary service project is operating a student food pantry located at the Chapel of the Holy Spirit on 1100 Broadway Street. Since 2024, they have distributed over 9,000 lbs of food to 360 unique visitors. Beyond the pantry, SAFI regularly delivers donations to New Orleans community partners, including The First 72+ and Communities in Schools Gulf South.

As of August 2025, SAFI joined forces with the aligned student organization, Tulane Food Recovery Network (FRN). Through the FRN, students participate in regular food recoveries at the Malkin Sacks Commons, reducing campus food waste while providing regular meal donations to local nonprofits. They host volunteer trainings each semester and always welcome students who'd like to get involved!

One student impacted by SAFI's work shared, "I'm a senior student at Tulane, and I use the pantry as a way to supplement my groceries since I don't have a meal plan. I like that the pantry keeps a lot of staples, and not having to buy things like pasta or bread does make a difference with my budgeting. It's nice that they highlight food insecurity on campus."
