On October 7, the Office of Sustainability and Tulane Hospitality hosted their first Gearshift event where students explored elements of sustainable lifestyles with the opportunity to swap costumes in preparation for Halloween. The event featured a tasting of sustainable snacks and crafting tables. Tulane Hospitality brought beeswax and fabric swatches for students to make reusable food wrap. Students made ghost garlands of salvaged fabrics with ricRACK New Orleans and learned about efforts to support local sustainable seafood industries with Audubon G.U.L.F.

You can meet Audubon G.U.L.F. this weekend at the upcoming Louisiana Shrimp Festival and Shrimp Aid event on October 18 and 19 at The Broadside theatre in New Orleans. The next Gearshift event will be held on Wednesday, December 3 and will focus on sustainable gift giving.
