Responsibilities of the key shop include ordering and installing signs, plaques, door number plates and managing all campus keying and locks. Locksmiths handle all general and specialized lock services including cutting and delivering keys, installing and maintaining door hardware such as closers, lock sets, door knobs, panic bar devices, Detex brand exit door security stations and ADA push buttons, power supplies and controls for automatic doors. The key shop works closely with Splash Card Services and the carpentry shop on maintaining proper door operations in order to ensure a safe and secure building environment.
Services we provide at no cost:
- Routine maintenance of locks, door-opening mechanisms, panic hardware, and card readers
- Routine maintenance of door checks, door stops, and hinges
- Signs for room numbers
- Emergency call-outs for repair (NOT for lock-outs or rekeying)
Services we provide for an additional charge:
- Cutting of extra door keys Desk or file cabinet keys or locks
- Repairs to office areas other than routine maintenance
- Replacement of unbroken hardware with a different type of hardware
- Desk nameplates and department identification signs
- Emergency call-outs for lock-outs and re-keying
- Re-coring of offices, files, desks
- Lockouts of offices, files, desks (primary tenant or occupant MUST be present during opening)
- Replacing touchpad locks that have failed due to tampering or vandalism
