Carpentry Shop

Because Facilities Services is often called upon to maintain buildings and associated spaces on campus, carpenters are available to perform the following services: repair windows and doors, work on sheet rock and brick walls, ceiling tiles and wall finishes, assemble furnishings in offices, hang pictures, install whiteboards and blackboards, as well as carpet and tile floor covering installation in conjunction with the paint shop.

Routine maintenance and repair we provide at no cost:

  • Pool classroom chairs and writing desks
  • Broken glass in windows or doors
  • Stair treads or handrails
  • Sheetrock and dry walls (excluding vandalism)
  • Baseboards, molding, or carpet (tacking or gluing)
  • Missing or damaged ceiling tiles
  • Bathroom furnishings and ceramic tiles
  • Dispensers of paper towels, toilet paper, or hand soap
  • Built-in chalkboards
  • Door frames or jammed doors (see Key Shop for locking mechanism repair)
  • Projection screen repairs in pool classrooms
  • Broken or cracked cement
  • Gutters and air conditioning drain pans for all campus buildings
  • Air conditioning ducts and flashing for roofs
  • Exhaust fans on roofs and building flashing
  • Roofs for all academic buildings
  • Gutters of all academic buildings
  • Routine maintenance of locks, door-opening mechanisms, panic hardware, and card readers
  • Routine maintenance of door checks, door stops, and hinges
  • Emergency callouts for repair (NOT for lock-outs or re-keying)

All of the services below are provided for an additional charge.  An Interdepartmental Transfer (IT) must be completed to initiate your request. TAMS E-IT System

  • Hanging pictures, plaques, or bulletin boards
  • Building or repairing bookcases, bulletin boards, cabinets, counter tops, and shelves (built-in or portable)
  • Repairing office furniture (chairs, desks, desk drawers), staining or refinishing desktops, repairing broken desktop glass
  • Repair or replacement of Venetian blinds
  • Pouring of new cement
  • Covering doors with metal for security and fire prevention
  • Projection screen replacement or new installation
  • Roof repairs in residence halls or faculty housing
  • New construction, renovations, office furnishings, or carpet
  • Cutting of extra door keys, desk, file cabinet keys, or locks
  • Repairs to office areas other than routine maintenance
  • Replacement of unbroken hardware with a different type of hardware
  • Emergency callouts for lock-outs and re-keying
  • Re-coring of offices, files, and desks
  • Lockouts of offices, files, desks (primary tenant or occupant MUST be present during opening)
  • Replacing touchpad locks that have failed due to tampering or vandalism
